Friction mount or not ?
The top damper handle (Included with your damper) is simply pulled in and out of the damper with a strong force this is a great way to attach covers with a strong physical force centrally located. Also, HVAC systems that still may have air pressure in the system this type of central mounting will work very well to mount your sealed covers. Consider through hole friction mounted variants in this case.
The bottom damper handle is fixed in place with little nubs and spin a cam to rotate the damper. These are not friction mounted(Red dots in pic) Consider Neodymium Rare Earth Magnetic Covers in this case. Simply take this out and store within the magnetic cover while installed for winter/summer.
magnetic mount or not ?
Simply put... If your vents are not made of steel or another ferrous metal that a magnet will stick to then magnetic mounting will not work for you. Check them! Bring your favorite refrigerator magnet to your vent and see if it sticks. Then consider our Neo Rare Earth magnetic mounting option which is much stronger then your typical favorite fridge magnet.
