We typically make the custom 8" & 10" versions per individual order and like to verify measurements before starting to make these for you.
So if you place an order please contact us ASAP with your confirmed vent measurements as there are many different varieties on the market especially for the larger sizes. Email us at: Orders@Winterhomesolutions.com  with your order #.

Once you verify your measurements, we'll get started making them for you.
There are many different 8" and 10" variations out there so we like to double check with the customer's first before making them.

The most critical dimension is between the red dots straight across the center. From the highest point of each peek where the seal will be.

Below in this example: (Note- This is a 6" duct Vent Diffuser in the pictures, so the sealing surface starts at 7 1/8".) The HVAC Duct feeding this vent measures 6" not the vent itself.

When getting up into the 8" and 10" Vents there are many different types. Some have rounded peaks and some have flat outer rims. It's best to get the inner point of flat rim and MIDDLE of the peaks. This allows the magnets as close as possible to the metal without touching and gives the seal the best surface area to contact. I'll adjust magnets diameter based on your dimensions provided. Thus, keeping these as custom for now.

The standard 8" version works for many but not all. We've been trying to design a universal version for the 8 & 10" versions but there is too much variety out there. Please take pictures and send if in doubt and we can help verify what you need or suggest the best ways to get good measurements if unclear.

My most common 8" Version has a sealing surface starting at 9" and has an overall max diameter of 10 1/8". Depth internally for clearance is 1 1/4" from seal surface to inside bottom. But this version does not fit them all. We like to get the magnets within an 1/8" of the metal for good strength, but not touching so the seal has the best contact surface possible. Some of the 8" versions get much larger up to the 10 3/4"-11" range on max outside dimensions. So please measure as best as you can. Basically, the better you can measure the better they will fit your vents.

Our most common 10" version has a sealing surface starting at just under 11" (10.98") and has an overall max Diameter of 12". Depth internally for clearance is 1 1/4" (This sometimes has to increase to 1 1/2" or more depending upon vent style. If you measure this we can keep the size down and keep the covers tight against the vents. Personally, I like to keep the depth to a minimum so they are the better looking. (They blend in better)

For another example of measuring, in a different instance below with a flat outside 8" Vent diffuser:

The red dots are the exact dimension we want here with these Flat outside rims. Not the middle like above example. Remember to measure straight across the middle of the vent.

Also, using a level you can get a good dimension for the depth needed as many middle louvers are typically not straight at all and can skew this depth by 1/4-3/4" not using a level and simply using a straight edge. Measure with bubble level. So grab your level and measure when the bubble is level  to verify the max depth clearance required. (I haven't had issues here much with standard depths, but always good to double check this too.)

Make sure your vents are magnetic!  Some newer vents look like metallic steel but are either plastic or aluminum. (Not many but they are out there) If your planning on using the magnetic mount version please double check and make sure magnets will attach.

The magnetic versions are the most common as many vents have a push in CAM lock now for the baffles which don't hold up the friction mount versions. If your vents have a middle handle, these will slide out or pop out of the damper when using the covers. You can store your damper handles in the cover when installing for the winter months. That way, the vent cover can stay tight and close to the vents and the damper handles are stored safety for the winter months.
